CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago cab drivers would earn more money under changes proposed in an ordinance introduced Wednesday in the City Council.
The proposal has the backing of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the advocacy group Cab Drivers United and the union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees or AFSCME.
Supporters say the ordinance will boost driver income by reducing fines for driver violations, cutting lease caps for alternative fuel vehicles two years or older and implement a universal taxi smartphone app.
