Teens accused of trying to rob undercover detective in Gary

GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- Two known gang members accused of trying to rob an undercover detective in Gary are now facing charges.

Police say the detective set up a meeting through an app called OfferUp - an outlet for people to buy and sell things.

Investigators say during the meet-up, the suspects allegedly held the officer at gunpoint. The 18 and 17-year-old suspects then tried to run away but were arrested, police said.

Both are charged with armed robbery.
