CHICAGO (WLS) -- The ABC7 I-Team has an update about an investigation into guardrail safety.

Last year, the I-Team told you about Tim Benson, who was involved in a 2013 crash in Park City, Illinois. His car hit a guardrail and he sued the manufacturer, Trinity Industries.

He blamed his injures on a controversial system critics say can malfunction and impale vehicles. Benson has since requested the lawsuit be dismissed, and it was.

A spokesman for Trinity Industries says no money was paid out.

The company says the system works and has never been found to be defective in any court of law.
