Joliet Metra renovation underway, new platforms in place

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- Metra has opened new platforms in Joliet as crews renovate the area around the station.

New platforms are now in place for riders on the Rock Island and Heritage Corridor Lines.

Customer assistance teams are available to help riders find their new platforms.

The city of Joliet is redeveloping the area around Joliet Union Station into a regional transportation center.

A new station facility will be built for both Metra and Amtrak riders.
