CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Federal Highway Administration says the Trinity ET Plus guardrail passed eight mandated crash tests.
Those tests were ordered after a jury found the manufacturer defrauded the US by failing to disclose product changes. Critics allege the modifications caused deadly malfunctions, sometimes spearing crashing cars instead of slowing them.
A spokesman for Trinity says the ET Plus is a robust system that has been successfully crash tested more times than any product of its kind.
The highway agency says a review of the product is not yet complete.
