TripAdvisor highlights holiday travel trends

With Christmas Eve and Christmas falling on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday are expected to be the two busiest travel days of the year.

A TripAdvisor survey shows holiday getaway bookings have increased by 6 percent compared to last year.

New York City and Orlando are the top spots for domestic travel, while the Caribbean and Europe are the most popular international destinations.

The same survey reports that 60 percent of travelers plan to take a leisure trip this winter. The report says travelers can still find good deals when booking travel from mid to late January.
