WILSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities are searching for the alleged suspects who robbed a truck carrying $4 million worth of silver and gold in Wilson County.

Just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, , Wilson County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 114 mile marker on I-95 after two armed security guards said they were robbed at gunpoint.

When authorities arrived, the security guards who worked for Transvalue Inc. in Miami, Florida said they were on their way to Massachusetts with the shipment of silver and gold when they began to have mechanical problems with their truck.

They told deputies that when they pulled over along the northbound lanes of I-95, they were approached by three armed men in a white-colored van.

The guards said the suspects ordered them to get down on the ground, tied their hands behind their backs, and made them walk into a nearby wooded area.

They said the suspects then took several barrels of gold - with an estimated value of over $4 million - and left the scene while the victims were still in the woods.

Authorities in Wilson County say the case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information should contact the Wilson County Sheriff's Office at (252) 237-2118.
