Christmas Ship docks with trees for Chicago families

The Coast Guard cutter "Mackinaw" made its annual sail to Chicago's Navy Pier loaded with more than 1,200 Christmas trees.

CHICAGO -- The Coast Guard cutter "Mackinaw" made its annual trip to Chicago's Navy Pier loaded with more than 1,200 Christmas trees.



The trees will be given to families who might not be able to afford one.



The Christmas Tree Ship is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s. The original one was called the Rouse Simmons.
