CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's Union Station could be in for some big changes.

The Department of Transportation unveiled proposals Thursday that include wider commuter platforms and better access to CTA busses. There may also be some changes to the Great Hall.

Work is expected to begin next year.

About 120,000 people go through Union Station every day.
