CHICAGO (WLS) -- The United Way of Metro Chicago wants to celebrate its success by recognizing people in the community. On Thursday, June 29, 2017, the organization is hosting a luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Chicago to honor recent accomplishments of those helping across the area. The United Way recently reached the goals for its Live United 2020 campaign four years early. In that time, they've helped more than 60,000 struggling students get on-track for graduation, improved financial circumstances for over 133,000 households, and given 500,000 people access to health care. Jose Rico, the senior vice president of community investment for United Way of Metro Chicago, visited Eyewitness News to talk about the programs goals and the upcoming celebration.
