Tuesday last day for first time voters to register

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Tuesday is the deadline for those registering to vote for the first time in the April 7 run-off election between current Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and his challenger, Cook County commissioner Chuy Garcia.

To register, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old by Election Day and to have lived in your precinct for at least 30 days prior to the election.

Voters who want to register and vote at the same time can do so during a grace period from March 11 to April 4. Early voting for the run-off election will begin on March 23 and last through April 4.
