Yukon residents brave -30 degree tempertures for hair freezing contest

While the freezing tundra of Canada's Yukon might not seem like the most fun place to be in wintertime, these residents made the best of the cold with their uniquely frozen hairstyles.

As part of the annual Hair Freezing Contest held by the Takhini Hot Springs outside of Whitehorse in the Yukon Terrority of Canada, residents jumped into the 104 degree F outdoor pools to have their hair instantly freeze in the surrounding -30 degree F and below air temperatures.

According to Takhini Hot Springs, freezing one's hair takes only minutes as long as it's -30 degrees outside. Participants uploaded their photos to the Takhini Hot Springs Facebook page, where the winning photo was selected:

From left: Fanny Caritte, Milna Georgeault and Maxime Gouyou Beauchamps won the best frozen hair photo, winning the $150 cash prize. Georgeault said it took almost an hour to sculpt her hair.
