West Town woman survives stabbing, carjacking

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago woman spoke to ABC7 after surviving getting stabbed then carjacked.

Marlene Ho and her husband have lived in the West Town neighborhood for more than 10 years. She said that while they have seen the area change for the better, this incident has left them shaken.

Ho has been flooded with flowers since she was attacked outside of her condo, stabbed multiple times and carjacked last week.

"I've been really blessed with amazing friends and family members," Ho said.

Ho was returning home to the 1600-block of West Ohio last Thursday evening. She parked in the driveway and noticed two "kids" standing nearby.

They asked her for a lighter and said she didn't have one. Then, she says one of them charged at her with a knife.

"And the next thing I know, it's like, 'you're gonna give me your keys, you're gonna give me your purse and you're gonna give me your car.' And I was like, 'no!'" Ho said.

Ho was stabbed multiple times, including in the head and back.

She eventually gave the attackers her purse and car keys, but she did hang on to her phone, using it to call 911 when they drove away.

Police at the scene called her husband Jordan, who was at work. They told him to meet Marlene's ambulance at Stroger Hospital.

"When they opened the doors, I didn't know what to expect. Marlene was smiling, her head was bandaged. She was chatting with the paramedic," Jordan Ho said.

Despite needing stitches, Ho was in good spirits. And on Monday night, police found her car on the Southeast Side. Five females, two of them juveniles, were taken into custody.

"I'm happy that at least we have something - which is my vehicle - because I feel like that will lead to potentially who were the people who attacked me," Ho said.

It's not known if the females are responsible for the attack on Ho. Police said the carjacking remains under investigation.
