Homeowners reminded of property tax appeal deadline

Because of the housing market crisis, county officials believe some property values around Cook County have been unfairly inflated.. So the Cook County Board of Review has given property owners extra time to appeal the taxes if they think the property value has decreased since it was last assessed in 2006.

"We want to make sure that nobody pays more than their fair share and that everyone's property is assessed properly so everyone pays appropriate amount of property taxes," said Commissioner Larry Rogers, Cook County Board of Review.

Board officials say the board will do the research for the property. All the property owners have to do is appeal. Click here for more information.
