April 19, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Chicago firefighters rescued a man after a carbon dioxide leak at a factory on the city's Near West Side. It happened at a factory in the 100-block of North Aberdeen near West Randolph around 6 a.m. Monday at the Fabbri Sausage Company. Fire officials determined a carbon dioxide leak in the factory's cooling system dropped oxygen to dangerous levels.
Crews rescued one man who became disoriented. He is hospitalized in serious condition and expected to be OK.
Two others who evacuated the building after becoming dizzy were checked out at the scene.
