Verdict expected Monday in Glenn Evans trial
Chicago Police Cmdr. Glenn Evans faces aggravated battery and official misconduct charges.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Cook County judge is expected to announce Monday morning a verdict in the trial of Chicago Police Cmdr. Glenn Evans, who is accused of using excessive force when he put a gun in the mouth of a suspect.

Closing arguments began and concluded late Thursday afternoon.

Cook County Judge Diane Cannon said she will consider all the evidence over the weekend and announce a final decision at 10 a.m. Monday.

Opening statements began Tuesday.

Evans faces aggravated battery and official misconduct charges. Prosecutors said Evans shoved the barrel of a gun in the mouth of Rickey Williams to coerce a confession in January 2013.

Williams was arrested, but not charged in a crime.

On Thursday, Scott Ando, the recently ousted head of the Independent Police Review Authority, testified.
