2M bean bag chairs recalled on danger of suffocation

More than two million bean bag chairs are being recalled after two children died after suffocating on the chair's foam beads.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Ace Bayou Corporation announced the voluntary recall on the chairs sold from 1995 to 2013.

The recalled chairs with zippers that can be opened were sold in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors at retailers including Walmart, Amazon.com, Meijer.com, Big Lots, Bergner's, Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, Pamida, School Specialty, Wayfair and Younkers for $30 to $100.

Consumers who respond to the recall will be given a free repair kit which permanently disables the bean bag chairs' zippers so they cannot be opened.

A 13-year-old boy from McKinney, Texas and a 3-year-old girl from Lexington, Kentucky died after suffocating on the chair's foam beads.

CSPS says a third incident was reported in which a six-year-old boy opened the bean bag chair and reportedly swallowed foam beads. They were found in his mouth and nose.
