A car that went into the Fox River in Batavia has been pulled from the water after an extensive dive search for the car and the driver.

Batavia is about 40 miles west of Chicago.

A Batavia Public Works employee called police Monday night after seeing a car drive across a parking lot and into the river.

Divers tried to find the car but had to postpone their search until Tuesday due to frigid water and a fast current.

The driver is believed to be an elderly man from Saint Charles but his identity has not yet been released. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
