Demolition begins on popular toboggan slides
On Tuesday morning, crews started demolishing the slides at the Swallow Cliff Forest Preserve near Palos Park.
Workers tore out the 800-foot chutes. Those slides have gone unused for years and were not in good shape.
Despite pleas from local leaders and toboggan fans, Cook County officials said the $4 million price tag for repairing the slides was too high.
So they're spending around $100,000 to take them down.
