Arthritis seems to increase heart, stroke risk

Researchers are now learning just how severe that risk might be. At a recent meeting of the European League Against Rheumatism experts revealed the risk is comparable to that associated with type-2 diabetes.

Inflammation may be the missing link. It's thought the inflammatory process underlying rheumatoid arthritis has an effect on the heart.

Researchers are now suggesting these arthritis patients be considered for treatment with statin and blood pressure drugs.
