Vitamin C could help men with bone loss, not women

A new study in the October Journal of Nutrition finds eating fruits and vegetables can help elderly men guard against the bone loss that can lead to hip fractures.

Scientists say vitamin C protects against inflammation, which contributes to bone absorption and bone loss, as well as being essential for the creation of collagen that helps strengthens bones.

Ironically, the study did not show similar benefits in women, and researchers aren't sure exactly why that is.
