Chicago officials are trying to stay ahead of the pothole problem by patching them in January. The Department of Transportation filled more than 30,000 potholes during the first eight days of the month.

Drivers are constantly calling 3-1-1 to report new potholes.

As of January 13, more than 4,000 had been reported.

Wednesday's snow forced crews to cut back filling the potholes.
