April 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) A new public art project pops up at the end of a long, hard winter. Hardened city residents fall in love. They mount fiberglass cows that line the city streets. Grown men in business suits stop to pose for a picture. Small children shriek with delight at the polka-dots and other doodles that bring the cows to life.
Chicago in 1999? No it's Madrid today.
Ours was called "Cows on Parade." Their's is called "CowParade."
The leader of Madrid's Olympic bid is quoted as saying the "Madrid 15 cow will serve as a lucky charm for all Madrilenos and help make their Olympic dream a reality."
Let's hope the IOC judges deduct point for lack of creativity.
