Campus police say a 23-year-old woman was jogging Monday morning between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the 1000-block of West Wrightwood, and a man pulled her to the ground. They say the man fled when the woman screamed.
The attacker is described as being between 25-30 years old, about 5'5" tall, weighing between 190-200 lbs. Police say he has brown hair and a dark complexion and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. He drove off in a car that may look like a late '80's, four-door, lightly colored Toyota.
One man jogging in the area Thursday morning said he takes precautions when he jogs by not wearing an iPod.
"I could see how it could happen," said jogger Pete Welsh. "A lot of them keep the volume up high. It would be hard to hear someone come up from behind. It would have to be a fast attacker, too, if they catch a runner, I suppose."
If you know anything about this crime, you are urged to call police. Police are not talking specifically about whether the attacked jogger was wearing headphones or an iPod, but they do say this was a great time to warn people not to wear iPods and headphones and cell phones.
