Cales was charged in July after he allegedly attacked a woman, her child and husband.
Cales, 29, has served time for sexually abusing a 15-year-old. He was also convicted for domestic battery and possession of a stolen vehicle.
His younger sister, Peterson, has been missing since October of 2007. Her husband, former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson, is a suspect in her disappearance.
