Huberman is encouraging more neighborhood involvement.
"Our communities know better what type of school they need, they know better what type schools the community wants and would work best, and we all know that a community cannot thrive without a strong school as its anchor," said Huberman.
So far, 73 new schools have been created under Renaissance 2010. Twenty new schools are scheduled to open in the fall.
