Crews on scene of gas main break

May 15, 2009 (SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill.) Nicor says a contractor using a piece of heavy equipment ruptured a four-inch gas main in the 1900-block of East 170th Street.

Flames could be seen as crews worked to shut the gas main off.

As a precaution, officials evacuated 10 homes in the immediate area.

There are no reports of injuries.

There are some street closures near the scene. Traffic on 170th Street has also been rerouted.
