Reform leader meets with Ill. GOP

May 15, 2009 (SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) Former federal prosecutor Patrick Collins spoke to the GOP lawmakers in Springfield. He has already met with majority Democrats.

Collins said ethics laws backed by the commission should be fairly considered by both parties.

"It really is our hope in these next two weeks that the important issues of the day in ethics get a full hearing, and ultimately, a vote," said Pat Collins, Reform Commission Chairman.

"We, as a caucus, as Republicans, I think, share many of their views," said Rep. Tom Cross, (R) House Minority Leader.

The commission's proposals include a $2,400 limit on anyone's campaign contribution's in an election.
