Sam Adam to represent Blagojevich

May 20, 2009 Sam Adam has announced he will represent the former governor.

Blagojevich has been indicted on federal corruption charges. Adams says he will be seated at the defense table if the case goes to trial. Blagojevich must name his attorneys at a June 1 hearing.

Sheldon Sorosky, a long-time Blagojevich friend, had been the ousted governor's only lawyer at court appearances in recent weeks.

Adam gained the spotlight at the trial of R&B singer R. Kelly.

He delivered the thundering, whispering, fist-pounding closing argument at Kelly's child pornography trial. The R&B singer was acquitted of all charges.

Adam is the son of Sam Adam -- a wisecracking veteran of decades in Chicago's criminal courts.
