Danny Davis discusses race for Cook County Board President

July 5, 2009 (CHICAGO) Standing in front of Cook County Hospital, Davis said he's the most qualified of the potential candidates -- especially on the subject of health care.

He announced the formation of a committee to explore a possible candidacy. Davis says a poll he commissioned is favorable to him.

"The poll data that I've looked at show Danny Davis to be significantly ahead of all other potential candidates who said they were going to be running," Davis said.

The Democratic primary is next February.

Among others likely to run are Alderman Toni Preckwinkle and Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown.
