Union endorses Hynes for governor

October 13, 2009 (CHICAGO) Hynes greeted members of the Illinois Council of the International Union of Operating Engineers at their South Side headquarters on Tuesday. He said their endorsement indicates support for his plans to address the state's economic crisis.

"Turning the economy around means creating jobs... also we have to balance the budget in order to do that... I believe we cannot do that on the backs of middle class families," said Dan Hynes, (D) candidate for governor.

Hynes is challenging Gov. Pat Quinn in the Democratic primary in February as is Oak Park resident and attorney Ed Scanlan and community activist William "Doc" Walls.
