"I'm just very appreciative that everybody could come out. It means a lot to me. I'm very fortunate just to be able to come home safely. But to have all these people here to support me, it means the world. I just feel really blessed," Giacomino said.
The real twist on Sunday's 'welcome home' in Lombard was that friends of Giacomino, Army Specialist Sergio Talaver, Navy Corpsman David Creech and U.S. Marine Jerry Hernandez, thought all of the festivities were for Giacomino. However, they were recognized and thanked for their service, as well.
