The Lincoln Park Zoolights Festival began with the flip of a switch Friday evening. The zoo is aglow with more than 1 million lights.

One bonus this year: admission is free!

Also, people in one west suburb lined the streets in the dark for a holiday celebration.

Drummers helped kick off the annual Electric Lights Parade in Naperville.

One of the festive floats carried Santa and Mrs. Clause as they made their official arrival into town.

The grand illumination, which is part of the event, turned on more than 300,000 lights at Friday night's parade.
