A bill to ban smoking in most indoor places has been taken off the table in the Indiana General Assembly. The original bill would have banned smoking everywhere except casinos and race tracks in Indiana. But the sponsor of the legislation withdrew the measure after amendments were added that exempted bars, restaurants, and tobacco shops.

Indiana state representative Charlie Brown of Gary is the bill's sponsor. He says he's not sure if he will resume his fight for the bill or let it die.
