Raja Krishnamoorthi, a Democratic candidate for Illinois comptroller, is conceding defeat to his opponent. Because the race was close, the former deputy state treasurer did not concede to State Representative David Miller Tuesday night.

After the final tally showed Miller leading by more than 8,000 votes, Krishnamoorthi called it quits.

Miller will face Republican Judy Baar Topinka in November. The comptroller post was left open after Democrat Dan Hynes chose to run for governor.
