Gov't program offers help for troubled mortgages

The government has launched a new program to speed up the process of selling homes that are worth less than the mortgage.

Those homeowners will get $3,000 for moving expenses if they complete what's known as a short sale or agree to turn over their deed to the lender.

Both options will not hurt a borrower's credit score as much as a foreclosure.
