Daniel Firkins was near his home at Honore and North Avenue last Friday afternoon when he trying to hail cab to go to school. Police say a cab stopped, Firkins leaned in and then the cab driver suddenly drove off.
Firkins fell to the ground, suffering injuries to his head and torso. His family is hoping someone who saw it all will come forward.
"It's not a case of hit and run. It's more than that and I want the individual that did this to my son, that destroyed his life, at least know you've taken a life," said David Firkins, father.
Firkins' family says he is in very grave condition.
Police have only a vague description of the taxi. They say it was white with blue stripes.
