Police responded to the domestic disturbance call at a home on West Palatine Road and say they saw a man with a gun and heard shots before the suspect began shooting at them. A police officer returned fire with a single shot.
The suspect, Daniel Moreno, was injured and hospitalized. There was no information on his condition.
Police say the 9-year-old escaped from the house along with his mother and a 1-year-old. The boy was treated for a minor head injury.
