Chicago City Council continues work on budget

November 10, 2010 (CHICAGO)

For weeks, aldermen have been holding meetings on the $6.2 billion spending plan.

The budget spares city residents and businesses from additional taxes and fees. Instead, it calls for the city to dip into reserve funds and the city's tax increment financing program to close a $655 million deficit.

After considering some proposals from the finance committee, the city council is expected to approve the mayor's budget for a final vote next week.
