DuSable honors late founder Margaret Burroughs

The DuSable Museum of African-American history paid tribute to the life and legacy of its founder over the weekend.

The celebration called "Dr. Margaret Burroughs: In Her Own Words" was held Saturday afternoon at the museum and included filmed interviews and remembrances by some of Burroughs' friends and colleagues.

The event also focused on Dr. Burroughs' activism, education and creativity.

Burroughs died in November 2010 at the age of 95. She founded the DuSable museum in 1961.
