American Airlines says Flight 2252 rolled past the threshold of the runway in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
It's not clear why the plane didn't or couldn't stop before reaching the end of the runway.
The 757 aircraft was filled with 175 passengers, plus six crew members.
No one was hurt.
A bus transported passengers to the terminal.
