Police in north suburban Evanston say they will conduct additional neighborhood patrols after a man tried to abduct a girl as she walked to school Monday morning.

The 12-year-old told Evanston police that a man grabbed her arms and told her she was going with him in the 600-block of Florence near South Boulevard just before 8 a.m.

The girl kicked the man in the leg, got away and ran to school where they reported the incident.

The Evanston Police Department is working with District 65 schools to set up additional patrols.
