Hundreds turned out Saturday night for the Black Creativity Gala at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.

The event is part of the museum's annual Black Creativity Program, which began 40 years ago.

It was created to showcase the work of African-American artists. The program has grown to focus on topics such as medicine, music, film and engineering.

Saturday's gala included a look back at the program's history and a juried art exhibit.
