The city's Plan Commission is expected to approve a project that would fix the bottleneck for cyclists and pedestrians using the Lake Shore Drive Bridge over the Chicago River.

The path along Lower Lake Shore Drive is considered the worst choke point along the lakefront trail.

The project, called the Navy Pier Flyover, would basically create a separate bridge just for bikers and people who walk and run along the trail.

The two-lane path would lead away from the congested section.

If approved, work on the project could begin next year.
