1 reported dead in police-involved shooting

One person is dead after apparently exchanging gunfire with Chicago police on the city's West Side.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the 4000-block of West Lexington.

Police say they exchanged gunfire with two people. One person was hit, and the other ran from the scene.

The Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates all shootings involving Chicago officers, was on the scene investigating the incident.

The dead person's identity has not been released.

No other information was available late Sunday.
