Several people on Chicago's South Side are cleaning up the mess caused by a water main break Friday morning.

Water department crews have been working to repair the break on the 700-block of East 69th Place.

The break caused water to pour into many homes on the block at about 3 a.m. Friday.

Yolanda Thomas says she woke up find 3 to 4 feet of water in her basement.

"It's very hurtful to even think about all of what's damaged down there -- electronics, washer, dryer, clothing, things of personal value, things you can't replace-- pictures. It's very disheartening," Thomas said.

Thomas says all her neighbors on the block are also flooded.
