Violence erupted over the weekend in Chicago with several shootings.

The latest incident happened Sunday when two children were shot while playing in a front yard near 51st Street and Calumet.

Neither the 13-year-old girl nor the 10-year-old boy was seriously hurt. Police say they do not believe the kids were the intended targets. Authorities reportedly are looking for at least two suspects.

On Sunday afternoon, a 22-year-old man was killed as he sat in a car on the city's South Side.

According to Chicago police, the victim was stopped at a traffic signal behind a car near 74th and Vincennes.

People in the car in front of him opened fire.

The victim tried to drive away but crashed into another car.

No one is in custody.

Another shooting occurred at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400-block of West 79th Street.

Christopher Young, 18, was standing on a sidewalk when gun shots rang out.

Police say Young had no known gang affiliations.

In another fatal shooting, a 20-year-old man was killed in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Police say he was shot in an alley early Sunday in the 2400-block of West 45th Street.

In an unrelated incident, a 23-year-old man was shot in the head while he was sitting in a vehicle Saturday night in the 5500-block of South King Drive.
