Proposal to hike city sticker price tabled

A proposal to increase the price of city stickers for most cars has been tabled at least until after Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel and the new City Council are sworn in.

First Ward Alderman Joe Moreno is backing the ordinance. It would give owners of electric and hybrid cars a break, cutting the cost for a city sticker by nearly half. However, for vehicles which run on gas, the cost for a city sticker would go up anywhere from $20 to $35 depending on size.

Moreno believes his ordinance would generate more than $21 million a year for the city.
