A search yesterday focused on an area 30 miles from the Iowa border.
Cell phone records indicate Timothy Pitzen's mother was in that area.
He was last seen with his mother, Amy Fry Pitzen, at a Wisconsin Dells resort a week ago.
Her body was found in a Rockford hotel Saturday.
Investigators say she committed suicide. She left a note saying Timothy was in the care of people she did not name.
