The fire department confirms the worker was pushing carts in the parking lot at 2080 Route 50 Sunday when the incident took place. She was not struck directly by lightning but was standing nearby and was shocked.
She was conscious the whole time and complained of minor discomfort to one side of her body. She was treated on the scene and transported to Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Fire Chief Jim Baird said the woman was treated and released.
